Alpha Micro adds XPort Pro- the World’s Smallest Linux Networking Server - to its product portfolio

New to Alpha Micro’s product portfolio is the XPort® Pro™ from Lantronix, the newest addition to its popular XPort® family of embedded Ethernet networking and compute modules which are used in millions of devices worldwide. The XPort Pro provides customers with a powerful engine for deploying advanced applications at the network edge, all in an integrated, thumb-sized package.

In addition to having the identical form factor as the original XPort, the XPort Pro’s leading-edge architecture, 32-bit processing power and ample memory allow resource-intensive applications to be deployed on a single platform. Advanced networking and security features enable machine-to-machine (M2M) edge computing with unlimited customisation and application hosting, providing developers with faster time-to-market and unprecedented application development options.

Christos Papakyriacou, Managing Director of Alpha Micro Components, said: “This product is set to revolutionise machine networking by creating a state-of-the-art platform that allows smart services and other sophisticated applications to run on edge devices. As a design-based distributor specialising in embedded solutions we can offer a comprehensive technical support package ranging from simple application support through to complete turnkey designs.”

XPort Pro is available running Linux and IPv6, bringing the product to a global community and providing Linux developers with a tiny, powerful compute platform, along with an industry standard development environment. XPort Pro is also available with the feature-rich, Evolution OS™ turnkey operating system and software development kit. This product also includes Lantronix’ patent-pending Virtual IP (VIP) AccessÔ technology, which allows seamless integration with the company’s ManageLinxÔ remote services enablement platform.

Daryl Miller, VP of Engineering at Lantronix, said: “A lot of time, effort and expense go into the iterative process of designing and testing an embedded computer and networking platform. XPort Pro considerably simplifies this task, in many cases eliminating the need for other processors.  With Linux on board as well, developers can focus on their core competencies to bring a product to market quickly, without having to learn a new operating system and development environment.  Integrating ManageLinx VIP Access™ in the product makes it easy for designers to create solutions that work behind firewalls without the need for a VPN (virtual private network).  We are excited about the broad range of applications made possible with XPort Pro.”

XPort Pro provides over five times the processing power and 32 times the memory of its predecessor.  It also features SSH and SSL security and encryption and supports a variety of protocol conversions.
