73S8009R General Purpose, Low Power ISO-7816 / EMVco Smart Card IC

Teridian's 73S8009R device is a single smart card interface IC, compliant to the electrical requirements of ISO-7816-3 and EMV 4.0 (EMV2000) electrical specifications.

It is housed in a standard 20-pin QFN package which measure just 4 mm x 4 mm, making it the smallest smart card interface IC currently available. The 73S8009R can be used in conjunction with any host micro-controller that can support the smart card protocol layer.

The 73S8009R also integrates a Low Drop-Out (LDO) voltage regulator that generates the card power supply (VCC) from a nominal power supply source (VPC) of 5V. Digital circuitry can be separately powered by a digital power supply VDD, typically 3.3V, which is independent from the 5V supply of the LDO regulator. Teridian's unique LDO regulator IC solution requires only one external capacitor making the 73S8009R the most cost effective solution for high-volume smart card readers in consumer electronics applications such as set-top-boxes, digital TVs, or personal video recorders.
