73S1121F-DVK Smart Card terminal Controller Evalaution Board

If you are thinking about implementing Smart Card technology into your products then this is definately the solution. The 73S1121F development toolkit comes with everything you need to get you up and running with the minimum of effort. It's a complete platform that allows development of 73S1121F embedded applications.

The full blown development kit (73S1121F-EB) can be used as both an evaluation kit and a development platform. It incorporates a 73S1121F integrated circuit, and it has been designed to operate either as a standalone platform, or as a development tool.

As a standalone platform, the embedded 73S1121F device can be downloaded with any application. The application can be user developed or one of the Teridian developed demo applications. The Teridian demo applications include the LAPIE (Low-level API Exerciser), which is pre-downloaded in the board, an EMV testing application and a USB smart card reader application. All Teridian demo applications are available in the Development Toolkit CDROM which is supplied as part of the kit.

The Evaluation Board, being pre-downloaded with the LAPIE, only requires a PC to take control of the board functionality through an RS232 link. Windows™ HyperTerminal can be used to send Teridian proprietary commands for card activation / deactivation, exchange of data, display of characters on the LCD, PIN entry etc. Other applications can be downloaded through the serial port using the In-System-Programming capability (ISP mode).

As a development tool, the Evaluation Board has been designed to operate in conjunction with either a ROM-emulator or with an In-Circuit-Emulator (ICE) to develop and debug 73S1121F embedded applications. The same platform can be used to develop applications for the 73S1113F and 73S1112F and integrated circuits from Teridian.

The hardware platform provides access to all built-in interfaces of the 73S1121F. It includes 2 smart card interfaces, 1 keyboard, 1 LCD module, 1 USB and 1 RS232 communication interface.

The RS232 interface can be easily modified into a serial interface to be hooked up to any other controller or serial peripheral.

The board features a 73S1121F chip that carries out the real time emulation of the application under development. All the signals, including the power supply, the clocks and the analogue signals are managed by the 73S1121F.
