STM1E-SFP STM1e Copper SFP Transceiver

Teridian's STM1E-SFP (previously known as 78P2351R-SFP) is a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) module compatible with the Multi Source Agreement (MSA) for SFPs. The module utilizes TDK Semiconductor’s latest generation of Line Interface Units (LIUs) for 155 Mbit/s electrical SDH interfaces (STM1e).

The STM1E-SFP also includes all the necessary components for interfacing to 75ohm telecommunications coaxial cable. By utilising this device system designers now have a single supplier to ensure compliance with all relevant ITU-T and Telcordia specifications for not only the IC functions, but also board level concerns like return loss and surge protection.

The 78P2351R physical layer IC includes integrated Clock & Data Recovery in both directions and a CMI encoder/decoder for transparent NRZ to CMI conversion. It provides standards compliant Loss of Signal (LOS) detection and the option to disable (and tri-state) the transmit outputs. A serial interface provides access to an on board EEPROM for identification information.
