SIM cards, sometimes referred to as SMART Cards, are widely used for identifying devices in GSM and Cellular phone type applications. Cards are also used for identification of readers/writers for Set top boxes, persoanl banking and Point of Sale terminals. These types of Card are sometimes referred to as SAMs (Secure Application Module) card.
