Alpha Micro Systems - Junior .net Developer
The Position
Alpha Micro Systems are looking for a junior .net developer with
at least two years' commercial experience developing Windows Form
applications. The successful candidate will have a degree
qualification in a computing (or related) course and will be
technically proficient in C#. Due to the nature of the
position it would be beneficial but not essential if the candidate
has electrical engineering experience gained either commercially,
academically, or otherwise. We are particularly interested in
graduates of combined computing/electrical engineering courses,
although this is not an essential requirement. In addition an
understanding of the following would be greatly beneficial:
- T/SQL for SQL Server 2005/8
- Domain driven design, business objects and generic software
patterns
- Unit Testing (using NUnit or equivalent)
After a number of years specialising in Location Aware
technologies the company is looking to broaden its range of
Machine-to-Machine solutions. The position will be involved
with the development of WinForms applications to deal with the
birthing, testing, on-going configuration, and diagnostics of M-2-M
devices.
The successful candidate will be based at the hardware
headquarters in Basingstoke but will be required to travel
infrequently to the company's software R&D Centre in
Scotland. It is likely that frequent on-site visits to the
product assembly and testing line will also be required to collect
requirements for new features, bug fix, and deploy new versions of
software.
Company & Product Background
Alpha Micro Systems was formed in 2006 out of a requirement to
provide complete machine-to-machine software solutions,
specialising primarily in Geospatial Information Systems. It
is a subsidiary of Alpha Micro Components which provides the
hardware devices used by the company's software solutions.
These complete solutions allow assets such as vehicles and people
to be tracked by means of GPS with the positions being transmitted
over the mobile phone network. The transmitted position is
then captured by the company's own servers and displayed on its
various web portals.
At present the Research Development & Support Centre
contains six members of staff, and is located in the Tayside
Software Centre in Dundee Technology Park. This team is responsible
for all software engineering work on the product and its related
sub-products, user documentation, and all aspects of support and
customer services. We use the latest tools and techniques
where possible.
